Thief of Days

The woman known as the Thief has walked the earth for centuries, stealing one day at a time from unsuspecting passersby and thereby living forever. Until she steals from Julia, an itinerant sometimes-waitress who, unlike all those before her, notices her missing day. In her quest to get her day back, Julia tracks down and then teams up with the Thief in a journey that spans continents and realities. Together, they encounter mythical figures ranging from Coyote to Reynard the Fox King, from Baba Yaga to the Devil himself.

 But amid fantastical carnivals and dealings with fairies, the biggest surprise turns out to be the feelings Julia and the Thief develop for each other. Dangerous games of chance and a life on the run confirm what they’ve always hoped and feared: to fall in love is to make a deal with the Devil.
